Tony Calabretta was born and raised in the heart of Montreal’s Mile-End district and has been an active member of the local entertainment scene for well over two decades.
One of Tony’s first major accomplishments came in the form of a play entitled Damn Those Wedding Bells! which he wrote and starred in. The success of this comedy was evident by the accolades it received by both the public and the critics, as well as the fact that it had two sold-out runs in Montreal’s two most prestigious English theatres; the Centaur Theatre in 1996 and the Segal Centre in 2002. This caught the attention of none other than the legendary Canadian playwright, Michel Tremblay, who agreed to translate it into French. The play was later produced in French at Theatre Rougemont and toured Montreal and the surrounding areas as well. Again, it was met with sold-out performances and excellent reviews.
Although Tony’s first love is the theatre, he eventually turned his focus to on-camera work; a decision which proved to be very fruitful.
Having realized many of his goals as an actor on screen and stage, Tony has now turned his focus to screenwriting. He is currently working on several projects.
Tony continues to live and work in Montreal.
